About The Vegan Museum

The Vegan Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to recording, preserving, and sharing the rich history and multi-faceted benefits of a vegan lifestyle. Through community engagement, educational exhibits, and interactive events, we inspire public awareness about how plant-based living impacts health, animal welfare, and the planet. We are currently a travelling exhibit consisting of twelve 7/foot tall panels and a video monitor. Our goal is to have a permanent location.

 

Position Overview

The Vegan Museum is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial, and results-driven Executive Director to lead our next chapter of growth. Working closely with our Founder and President, the Executive Director will serve as the chief fundraiser, advocate, and operational leader for the organization.

 

This is a role suited for a proactive self-starter who thrives in a non-profit environment. The primary focus upon hire will be hitting the ground running with strategic fundraising, securing immediate funding, cultivating key donor relationships, and establishing sustainable revenue streams to fuel our mission.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising & Financial Development

●      Execute Immediate Revenue Goals: Build, manage, and execute an aggressive fundraising plan from day one to meet urgent organizational revenue targets.

●      Grant Management: Identify, research, write, and manage competitive grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government entities.

●      Donor Engagement: Cultivate, steward, and solicit gifts from major donors, individual contributors, and community sponsors.

●      Diverse Funding Streams: Explore and launch creative revenue-generating initiatives (e.g., corporate partnerships, event sponsorships, recurring giving programs).

2. Strategic Leadership & Vision

·       Partner with the founder/President: Collaborate closely with the Founder/President to shape strategic priorities, programmic direction and long-term organizational vision

3. Community Networking & Outreach

●      Ambassador: Act as the face and voice of The Vegan Museum across local and regional communities, animal advocacy groups, environmental networks, and plant-based movements.

●      Partnership Building: Network with key stakeholders, community leaders, business partners, and cultural institutions to expand the museum's reach and footprint.

 

4. Team Leadership & Operations

●      Hire & Manage: Recruited, hire, onboard, and directly supervise a part-time Social Media Coordinator to elevate brand visibility and audience engagement.

●      Communications: Oversee organizational storytelling, public relations, donor communications, newsletters, and press outreach.

●      Event Production: Plan, promote, and execute key community events, fundraisers, and educational programs (supported by team/volunteers).

 

Qualifications & Skills

●      Proven Fundraising Track Record: 3+ years of successful non-profit fundraising experience, including major donor solicitation, campaign execution, and successful grant applications.

●      Leadership Experience: Experience in small non-profit operations, project management, or team leadership.

●      Mission Alignment: Passionate commitment to the vision, history, and benefits of a vegan lifestyle.

●      Strong Communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups, negotiating partnerships, and writing compelling grant requests.

●      Self-Motivated & Agile: Able to work independently and prioritize high-priority goals, including executing immediate revenue targets, building aggressive fundraising plans from day one, and establishing sustainable funding streams to fuel the organization's mission.

●      People Management: Prior experience hiring, delegating to, and managing direct reports or contractors.

 

Compensation & Benefits

●      Salary Range: $40/hour while part time

●      Benefits: Raise & benefits added after 1-3 months when going to full time.
