Jodie Wiederkehr explains how the Chicago Alliance for Animals managed to win so many humane campaigns in such a short amount of time with just a few volunteers and a little funding.

Jodie Wiederkehr is the founder of both CAA and the Partnership to Ban Horse Carriages Worldwide. CAA was able to ban horse carriages in Chicago in a record 2.5 years without any paid staff, celebrity support, accidents or fatalities. On January 1, 2021, horses stopped suffering on Chicago’s cold, hard streets.

1 year later, CAA succeeded in getting Chicago's Puppy Mill Bill Loophole Law passed, which shut down two of the three pet stores that were selling dogs from unscrupulous sources such as puppy mills and backyard breeders and the third store stopped selling dogs.
